Mando
Mando is a semi‑socialized community cat who has recently begun forming a trusting relationship with the caregivers at Catopia. For several months, he was known only as “the‑cat‑that‑fought‑with‑Stubby”, appearing briefly in the yard as a fast, elusive figure who came for food - and an occasional roll in the catnip- before disappearing into the night.
Over time, Mando has shown steady progress in socialization. He now visits daily, approaches caregivers voluntarily, and seeks out gentle petting and attention. While he remains cautious — he does not tolerate being held and startles easily at loud noises — he demonstrates clear interest in human interaction and continues to build confidence at his own pace.
Mando recently explored the interior of the Catopia Castle for a short period, indicating growing comfort with indoor spaces. Although he is not yet ready for full‑time indoor living, he is expected to continue progressing as trust develops. Until then, he remains part of Catopia’s community cats program, with safe outdoor shelters, consistent access to food and water, and daily monitoring by staff.
Mando is not currently available for adoption. He will continue receiving care, support, and socialization as he chooses, with the long‑term goal of transitioning him indoors when he is ready.

Hammy (Ham Steak)
Hammy is one of Catopia’s beloved long‑time community cats and a daily visitor at the Catopia Castle. Much like his friend Stubby, Hammy has been part of our landscape for years, and we suspect the two may have once shared a home. Unlike Stubby, Hammy may still be welcomed indoors by a nearby household from time to time — but he never misses his regular check‑ins with us.
Hammy is an easygoing, social boy who enjoys spending time with the resident cats and loves sprinting around the yard with Stubby on nice days. He’s known for hopping up into the window to announce his arrival, politely requesting breakfast, lunch, dinner, or simply a few affectionate pets whenever the mood strikes.
Because of his consistency and comfort here, we consider Hammy a semi‑resident community cat. He responds immediately to his name and will often come running across the street or through neighboring yards for attention or treats. Hammy was already neutered when we met him, and we ensure he receives monthly flea/tick/parasite prevention and annual rabies vaccinations to keep him healthy and protected.
Hammy may not live inside the Castle, but he is absolutely part of the Catopia family — a friendly, familiar face who brightens every day.
Oreo (biscuits)
Oreo is one of Catopia’s newest rescues—a quiet, gentle cat who spent months surviving outdoors before finally finding safety with us. He first appeared on our cameras in spring 2026, slipping in for food, resting in a shelter overnight, and disappearing at the slightest sound. After observing him for several weeks, it became clear he didn’t have a home to return to; he was simply circling our feeding stations day and night, trying his best to coexist with the neighborhood cats.
Despite his sweet nature, Oreo struggled with the territorial dynamics of outdoor life. Just as we built enough trust that he allowed gentle pets during feedings, he was involved in a serious altercation with another cat. Seeking safety, he came directly to our yard—giving us the chance to scoop him up and bring him into the Catopia Castle.
Oreo is safe, healthy, and decompressing in the sanctuary. He is not yet socializing with the other cats, but he is learning that life can be calm, predictable, and kind. As his confidence grows, we hope to see him enjoying outdoor time with his new fur‑brothers.
Walter
Walter’s journey to Catopia has been a slow‑burn love story. For years, he was our mysterious nighttime visitor — slipping into our heated shelters after dark, enjoying a quiet meal, resting safely inside, and disappearing again before sunrise. We watched him on our security cameras, catching glimpses of him under vehicles or strolling through the yard, but he always kept his distance.
Eventually, Walter began waiting by the back fence, politely requesting his next plate of food. One meal at a time, he let us earn his trust… and then one day, he let us pet him.
In January 2026, during a brutal stretch of sub‑zero temperatures, Walter was spending nearly all his time in our yard and relying fully on us for food. He was burning precious calories just trying to stay warm. So we upgraded him to his very own side of the Cat Castle, where he spent a few cozy weeks recovering from the stress of winter life.
Today, Walter proudly calls Catopia home. He adores his fur‑brothers, Stubby and Squeaker — especially Squeaker, whom he follows everywhere (much to Squeaker’s ongoing annoyance). The trio loves lounging in the yard together, bird‑watching like seasoned professionals.
Walter’s favorite things include catnip, Churu, and any kick‑toy he can get his paws on — bonus points if it’s stuffed with catnip. He’s a gentle soul with a big heart, a survivor with a soft side, and a cat who finally decided that indoor life — and family — are worth sticking around for.
Stubby (Stubs)
For years before Catopia officially existed, Stubby ruled our yard like a tiny, whiskered mayor. We’re fairly sure he once belonged to a neighbor who either forgot to bring him inside or simply packed up and left him behind—but Stubby never seemed bothered. He chose us, and he’s been part of our lives longer than any other cat in the rescue.
These days, Stubby spends his time stretched out in the grass, supervising the birds, and conducting extremely serious investigations into the whereabouts of every bug on the property. As our self‑appointed resident security guard, he patrols the yard with great dignity, ensuring that nothing suspicious, scandalous, or even mildly questionable takes place on his turf.
Stubby has also discovered that he adores affection. Hugs, pets, chin scratchies—he’ll take them all. And if you happen to have a Churu? Congratulations. You’ve just become his new best friend.
Squeaker (Mew)
Squeaker was the 2nd big orange cat to find his way to Catopia, arriving like the others in the dead of winter—cold, hungry, and immediately claiming residency in our toasty heated garage. He is a calm, super-friendly fellow with just a hint of mischief. He spends sunny afternoons sprawled in the grass, toes poking out behind him, utterly absorbed in bird-watching, then pads off for leisurely strolls through the neighbor’s yard before slipping into his favorite hiding spot under the neighbor’s deck to play hide-and-seek with mom.
His given name is Sir Squeaker, but he answers best to "Mew" as that's the adorable sound he makes when you call his name. He is a chatty little cat with a BIG personality.
